I discovered Medical Ayurveda around March 2005. I had been taking anti depressant medication for three months and I wanted to find a holistic way of dealing with the issues that were bothering me. I have two young children, I had recently moved to America and I found that feelings of anxiety, dark moods, sleeplessness and lethargy had ‘returned.’ I also had some joint pain that was preventing me from biking and some patches of itchy, dry skin. I began on a regime of herbs, yoga, vata pacifying foods and wise advise from Bharathi at Medical Ayurveda Rejuvenation Center. One of the first noticeable changes for me was how much better I was sleeping. Within a couple of months, I stopped taking the medication. In October I felt ready to embark on the pancha karma program. At times, I found it difficult, as my energy levels during the latter stages of the program were very low. However, I now have a much deeper awareness of how foods affect my system, I ride my bike free from joint pain, the skin condition has improved markedly. Most importantly, life events that previously would have thrown me into a spin, I am dealing within a far more grounded way.

I am visiting Medical ayurvedic rejuvenation center since June 2007. The main reason for my visit was my menstrual irregularity and few other complaints like heaviness after lunch, constipation and getting anxious very easily. I have been seeing lots of changes since I visited MARC. These days my cycle is regular, I don't feel heaviness after lunch, no more constipation problems and most of the time I am calm With their daily routine recommendation, I feel I am more organized and I could do lot better than before. Thanks to Dr.Bharathi at MARC. She is knowledgeable and dedicated to her profession. She spends adequate time to discuss the problem over phone as well as in person. She always checks on my progress. I always felt very comfortable communicating with all the staffs at MARC. At Medical Ayurveda they are very flexible in scheduling appointments and also they return the phone calls the same day. They also ship medicines in a timely manner. I have always enjoyed their organic fruits, herbal teas and Pat's soup.

*"I came to see Dr. Bharathi after having to take a medical withdrawal from school. I was absorbing very little of what I ate and as a result I was extremely malnourished. Dr. Bharathi devised a comprehensive program for me which included guidelines on diet, exercise, yoga, and massage. *Week by week I began to feel better –stronger and more energetic. After five months of being home the worst of my symptoms had been relieved and I was clear about what I had to do to continue with my recovery. Since seeing Dr. Bharathi I have returned to school and kept up with the program she set out for me. I plan to take her suggestions and incorporate them into my daily routine as part of a lifetime commitment to health and wellbeing. *I owe a great amount to Dr. Bharathi and everyone at the Center. I owe a special thanks to Shannon Kennedy for all of her hard work and dedication."*

Approximately five years ago my health was not in the best of shape. According to Ayurveda terminology my vata was out of balance. This imbalance resulted in a lot of anxiety and worry in my mind, and feeling very ungrounded and “spacey”. I was suffering and at times felt very weak and wondered if I would regain my health. A friend recommended Ayurveda, and I looked online and found Medical Ayurveda in Newport Beach. Bharathi is the doctor there who looks after my health. The moment I walked in I felt at home, as the atmosphere is soothing with an outdoor fountain and garden, and indoors a pleasant scent, homey décor, and friendly staff. Bharathi is wonderful because she not only sees me as a body, but as a whole person - mind, spirit, emotions, as well as physical body. She really cares and treats her clients in such a loving and personal manner - that is the best part.

I also like Ayurveda because this science takes everything into account - eating habits, sleeping habits, lifestyle, profession, spiritual practice, meditation - in some ways it’s like visiting a therapist, doctor, and spiritual advisor all at once! I actually look forward to my visits there and see it as a little retreat! My health gradually improved and is now pretty much back to normal. The best part is that Bharathi taught me to self evaluate so that when for example my digestion is weak, I know to take more ginger, and when I feel ungrounded, I know to focus again on oil massage. I don’t have to run to the doctor’s office for every little complaint, but rather I have been taught to look after my health with natural remedies and proper lifestyle, and recognize warning signs and self treat them before they get too far out of balance. In Ayurveda the clients learn to take responsibility for our health. The doctors don’t just tell us to pop a pill to cover a symptom while we the patients continue putting toxic or unhealthy things in our bodies, but rather they teach us to take responsibility for living a healthy, positive lifestyle. As for the remedies, Bharathi also taught me a simple yoga routine to do in the mornings, breathing exercises to calm my mind, and the herbal “medicines” I am given are delicious and fairly easy to take. I feel no side effects and feel happy that I am putting into my body something natural created by God to heal the body and mind.

I also like that Ayureda does not just treat a symtpom, but gets to the route of the problem and is preventative as well. I do oil massage each morning which gives me energy and helps me feel grounded, I take nose drops, and I go to bed earlier than I used to. The morning routine is the most important part of my day and has literally changed my life and keeps my mind in focus. Sometimes at Medical Ayurveda the staff offers the clients a healthy soup for lunch after the visit. They also offer massage and other services which I have not taken advantage of so much, although I did do a pancha karma which left me feeling very cleansed, fresh, and with a clear mind. I now teach what I have learned to my clients at a mental health center where I work and am extremely grateful to Medical Ayurveda and Bharathi for their kindness, caring, expertise and professionalism. I would highly recommend this center for anyone seeking natural health remedies. I am so happy to eat more natural foods, be aware of the benefits of proper spices in foods, and follow a yoga and meditation routine that is right for my body type.

I didn't realize how poor my health was until I started to feel so much better. Coming to receive herbs and treatments from you has made all the difference for me. It's like visiting my favorite country doctor combined with the ancient traditions of India. I always want to receive herbs from you. I have relied on Bharathi for her gentle persuasion to keep me on track and returning on a regular basis so that treatments can be continually fine tuned. Her true healing presence has helped me believe that I can feel better. Feeling better and having energy has given me the ability to dream again~ I love having soup when I visit!
Thank you so much!

I had learned about Ayurveda from a documentary on TV and it made a lot of sense. I found Medical Ayurveda Rejuvenation Center on line and started going there periodically and applying some of the principles in my life for the last three years. I was reluctant about Pancha Karma at first but I finally decided to try it earlier this year. The results were amazing. After all the treatments, I now have a better digestive system, a healthier skin, no back pain, a stronger immune system, and a calmer mind. I plan to repeat Pancha Karma every year. Even if I don’t live in southern California any more, I travel there periodically to visit Medical Ayurveda Rejuvenation Center because I trust their expertise and knowledge about both Ayurvedic and Western medicines.

My Supervised Home Panchakarma Experience, I began my home panchakarma experience after being under the care of the Newport Medical Ayurveda Clinic practioners for several months. I had also attended several weekend seminars about Ayurveda. So, I began my supervised home panchakarma with some knowledge and experience. Even with this background, the length and the extent of the body cleansing that I experienced surprised me. The first two weeks was to soften up all the toxins and decay in my body. The third week was to expel all of this out of my body. It took concentrated effort and attention on my part to follow all the procedures. The results of my panchakarma were a pleasant surprise to me. For over a year before my panchakarma I needed to sleep with my shoulders and knees propped up by pillows and blankets just to make myself comfortable. After my third week of panchakarma my body was free enough from pain to be comfortable sleeping without props. Before my panchakarma I often woke up several times a night with numbness in my arms and hands. After my cleansing I no longer had the numbness. I now feel quieter and calmer. I feel more in tune with the physical needs of my body. I am on the road to a higher quality of health. People say I look ten years younger.
